Internet and phone options for Cloquet businesses
Seven providers report business service somewhere in Cloquet’s 6,085 locations. Copper reaches about 91% of them, cable about 88% and fibre about 25%, so a quarter of Cloquet addresses can get a fibre line and the rest choose between two older networks. These Cloquet figures are from the FCC’s National Broadband Map, data as of December 31, 2025.
By provider, the FCC’s map shows Lumen (CenturyLink) at 91%, Mediacom at 88% and T-Mobile at 62% of Cloquet locations for business service, with AirFiber at 40%, AT&T at 19%, Verizon at 17% and Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa at 11%. One of those providers is the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s own network, reported at about 11% of Cloquet locations.
We are vendor-neutral, so for a Cloquet address we compare what each of those carriers actually offers there against how the office uses its phones and internet, and say which combination makes sense.
The businesses Cloquet runs on
The Census Bureau’s 2022 Economic Census counts the businesses inside Cloquet’s city limits; these are the largest Cloquet groups among the industries we serve:
- Healthcare. 59 health care and social assistance establishments in Cloquet employ 1,187 people and need call routing between scheduling and billing, and backups that are tested.
- Retail. 44 retail establishments in Cloquet employ 585 people and need card payments that work every time and guest wi-fi kept apart from the till.
- Hotels and restaurants. 23 accommodation and food service establishments in Cloquet employ 394 people and need card terminals that keep working on a busy night and phones that reach the front desk.
- Financial services. 23 finance and insurance establishments in Cloquet employ 115 people and need security reviews and controlled access to customer records.
- Logistics. 6 transportation and warehousing establishments in Cloquet employ 95 people and need sites that stay connected to each other.
Health care employs about twice as many people in Cloquet as retail does.
For Cloquet, construction and manufacturing are counted by county rather than by town: County Business Patterns for 2022 counts 94 construction establishments and 27 manufacturers employing 1,118 people across Carlton County. Job sites and shop floors around Cloquet need phones and connections in places an office network was never designed for.
Schools, local government and nonprofits are on the list of industries we serve as well; the Census business surveys leave most of them out, so there is no Cloquet figure to give for them.
If your Cloquet business holds customer data
Minnesota law (Minn. Stat. 325E.61) requires a business that holds personal information to tell the people affected without unreasonable delay when that data is taken in a breach, and to notify the consumer reporting agencies within 48 hours when more than 500 people must be told. For a Cloquet business the practical step is knowing where customer data sits and who can reach it before anything goes wrong, which is what a security review covers.

It starts with a free technology review of your Cloquet office: every phone, IT, security and internet vendor you pay today, and what to keep, fix or combine. The Cloquet review costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
