Internet and phone options for Duluth businesses
Most of what a business runs on now travels over its internet connection, phones included, so the first question for any Duluth office is what its address can actually get. The FCC’s National Broadband Map (data as of December 31, 2025) counts 41,038 locations in the city of Duluth. Cable is reported for business service at about 97% of them and the older copper network at about 92%. Fibre is reported at about 5%.
By provider, Charter (Spectrum) reports business service at 98.6% of Duluth locations and Lumen (CenturyLink) at 92.2%. Fixed wireless fills in around them: T-Mobile at about 60% of locations, and AirFiber, AT&T and Verizon at between 16% and 19% each. In practice that means most Duluth offices have two wired choices and at least one wireless one, and a few have fibre. Which of them reaches your building is a question about your address, not about Duluth.
That is where a vendor-neutral adviser earns its keep. We do not sell one carrier’s service. We check what is available at your address, compare the plans against how your office uses its phones and internet, and tell you which combination makes sense, including a second connection of a different kind for the day the first one fails.
The businesses Duluth runs on
The industries we serve are the ones Duluth has most of. The Census Bureau’s 2022 Economic Census counts them in the city:
- Healthcare. 494 health care and social assistance establishments employing 16,859 people, the largest group in Duluth by a wide margin. A clinic or care office needs phones that reach the right desk, records that are backed up and restorable, and staff who can spot a phishing email.
- Retail. 359 establishments and 5,733 employees. A shop needs card payments that work every time, a point of sale that talks to its inventory, and wi-fi that keeps guest traffic away from the till.
- Professional services. 230 establishments: accountants, engineers, law and design offices. Their work is files and client data, so backups, access control and a help desk that answers matter more than hardware.
- Financial services. 172 finance and insurance establishments with 1,560 employees, where security reviews and documented controls are part of doing business.
- Logistics. 48 transportation and warehousing establishments with 980 employees, often spread over more than one site that has to stay connected.
- Construction and manufacturing. Counted by county, not city: St. Louis County has 559 construction establishments and 188 manufacturers employing 5,223 people. Job sites and shop floors need connections and phones in places an office network was never designed for.
Schools, government offices and nonprofits are on the list of industries we serve too. The Census business surveys do not count most of them, so there is no figure to give here.
If you hold customer data in Minnesota
Minnesota law (Minn. Stat. 325E.61) requires a business that holds personal information to tell the people affected, without unreasonable delay, when that data is taken in a breach, and to notify the consumer reporting agencies within 48 hours when more than 500 people have to be told. It is one reason a Duluth business should know where its customer data sits and who can reach it before anything goes wrong. A security review covers exactly that.
How we work with a Duluth business
Our office is at 1507 Tower Avenue in Superior, across the bridge. We come to you: systems are installed at your Duluth location and your staff are shown how to use them in person. After that there is one number to call, (855) 770-9127, Monday to Friday, 8 to 6.
It starts with a free technology review. We list every phone, IT, security and internet vendor your Duluth office pays today and show you what to keep, what to fix and where combining things would save time or money. There is no cost and no obligation.
